GOLF IS ART

An Afternoon of Art, Golf and Community

On July 3rd, we gathered at the garden of LOT – Labels of Tomorrow, in Porto, to celebrate the launch of the limited edition collaboration between Matize and French artist Ciel Glue.

More than the release of three exclusive T-shirts and a series of original artworks, the afternoon became an opportunity to bring together the community around the values that inspired the collaboration from the very beginning: creativity, craftsmanship, golf and the Atlantic lifestyle.

A Summer Afternoon at LOT

With the warmth of a Portuguese summer afternoon, the garden at LOT became the perfect setting for the collaboration to come to life.

Guests explored the collection, discovered Ciel Glue's original artworks, enjoyed food and drinks, played a few rounds of mini golf and spent the evening sharing conversations around design, art and golf. Throughout the event, music accompanied the relaxed atmosphere that defines both Matize and the collaboration itself.

Rather than simply presenting a collection, the event celebrated the meeting of different creative worlds and the community that continues to shape the future of golf culture.

The Collaboration

The collaboration between Matize and Ciel Glue was born from a shared appreciation for Portugal's Atlantic coast and the culture that surrounds it.

Inspired by rugged coastlines, endless fairways, salt air and the rhythm of the ocean, the collection explores the natural connection between golf, surfing and contemporary art.

For the project, three limited edition T-shirts were created, each featuring one of Ciel Glue's original collage artworks. Alongside the garments, a selection of the artist's original pieces was also exhibited during the event, allowing visitors to experience the artwork beyond the clothing.

Through this collaboration, golf becomes more than a sport. It becomes a source of creativity, expression and everyday lifestyle.

About Ciel Glue

Originally from Paris and now based in Portugal, Ciel Glue works predominantly with collage, creating compositions from vintage magazines, old books, novels and coloured paper.

His artistic language grew from a lifelong passion for surfing before naturally expanding into other worlds, including golf, sailing and skiing. Across all of his work, one idea remains constant: reading landscapes before moving through them.

His well-known concepts, Reading the Wave, Reading the Green and Reading the Slopes, reflect this philosophy while giving new life to forgotten vintage imagery. By rescuing photographs from old publications and placing them into new visual narratives, his work creates a dialogue between memory, movement and nature.

This timeless perspective made the collaboration with Matize feel both natural and authentic.

Bringing the Collection to Life

Seeing the collection displayed alongside the original artworks offered visitors a deeper understanding of the creative process behind the collaboration.

The transition from handmade collage to printed garment highlighted the intention behind every piece: creating objects that can be appreciated both as wearable design and as artistic expression.

Throughout the evening, conversations naturally moved between golf, surfing, craftsmanship, Portuguese culture and creativity, reflecting the spirit that inspired the project from the beginning.
